Homemade Beef Jerky Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef (10% fat or less)
- 1/2 lb of ground organ meat (we like gizzards but you can grind up just about any organ meat)
Directions
Combine the ground beef and ground organ meat well. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil (perfect for easy clean up). Spread the mixture out on the sheet, cover with wax paper and roll out the meat to a thin layer, a ¼” thick is great. Remove wax paper and carefully slice the pan of beef mixture into strips about 5” long and 1” wide.
If using a dehydrator, place the strips on the dehydrator trays and dry on high. If using an oven, place baking sheet in a 200 degree oven for 3-5 hours. The jerky is done when it starts to become dry to the touch, it should bend but not break in half.
You can cut the strips in smaller chunks for training treats or leave the strip whole for a super special and healthy treat.
