Large dog eating ice cream

3-Ingredient Pumpkin Oak Dog Treats

Yield: 25-35 treats

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not the quick cook ones)
  • 1 Cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 large eggs (You can replace with either 1 cup of mashed bananas or applesauce)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven to 350 degrees and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper
  2. Add oats to a food processor and process for about 2 minutes until the oats resemble a coarse flour. Add pumpkin and eggs and pulse until combined into a cookie dough.
  3. Select your favorite cookie cutter (we like a dog bone or fire hydrant shape).  Roll dough out until its about ¼” thick and use cookie cutters to press out the treats.
  4. Place on the prepared cookie sheets (you can place them fairly close together, the cookies will not rise or expand)
  5. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the cookies have stiffened up a bit. Don’t wait for the cookies to brown up, these won’t unless they are burnt.
Some fun additions:

If you’re feeling really frisky in the kitchen, try adding 3-4 strips of cooked and crumbled bacon (Dino and Shelby’s favorite) to the  dough prior to rolling it out. Or add a ¼ tsp of cinnamon to get their noses in the air!
