All three carry the 3-Year No-Flatten Promise. If the foam collapses under normal use inside three years, we replace it. Teeth and claws are not normal use, and we say so plainly rather than hiding it in the fine print.
The One Measurement That Matters
Wait until your dog is asleep and stretched out on their side. Measure nose to base of tail. Add 6 to 12 inches. That is your minimum bed length.
If that number lands over 42 inches, every bed sold as “large” elsewhere is already too small, and no amount of shopping around fixes it. That is the whole reason this company exists.
Go Deeper
Four pages, each answering a different question:
- Orthopedic Dog Beds — what foam density actually means, why most brands will not publish the number, and what happens to a thin bed under 180 lbs.
- Giant Dog Beds — the breed-to-bed table, what the industry means by XXL, and why 79 inches exists.
- Bolster Dog Beds — why big dogs sleep pressed against things, and how to tell a working bolster from a decorative one.
- Travel Dog Beds — what breaks on a folding bed, in what order, and the three things that survive a truck bed.
Beds for Older Dogs
Giant breeds are seniors at five or six, not seven. By then the bed is doing medical work, and two things matter more than surface area: foam that does not compress to the floor, and an entry height they can manage. A bed a stiff dog has to climb is a bed they will sleep next to.
The Bolster Bed at 6.5 inches is the easiest to step onto. The Gigantic Ass Bed gives more support but more to climb — pair it with Big Ass Steps if your dog has started hesitating. Full detail in best dog beds for senior dogs.
Replace the Cover, Not the Bed
The cover is what wears out. The foam underneath usually has years left. Both full-size beds have a replacement cover sold separately — for the Bolster Bed and for the Gigantic Ass Bed. A $40 cover instead of a $300 bed is the difference between a bed that lasts three years and one that lasts seven.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which bed should I buy for a Great Dane?
Depends on how they sleep, not the breed. Sprawlers want the Gigantic Ass Bed; dogs who prop their head want the Bolster Bed. Both fit an adult Dane. The Great Dane gear page has the breed-specific numbers.
Do you make anything bigger than 79 inches?
No, and 79 by 36 is longer than a twin mattress. It fits a fully extended Mastiff with room left over. If your dog needs more than that, email us before ordering.
Can two dogs share one?
On the 79-inch bed, comfortably, if they already sleep touching. Two dogs who need their own space need their own beds — no bed solves a personality problem.
What if I pick the wrong one?
Tell us how your dog sleeps and we will tell you which bed, including when the answer is the cheaper one. We would rather talk you out of a sale than take a return.
