The Spooky Side of Fall
Fall is full of pumpkins, costumes, and crunchy leaves. But for big ass dogs, it’s also a season packed with sneaky hazards that can turn your October into a horror show. Let’s shine a flashlight on the ghouls and goblins hiding in plain sight.
Candy is Not Canine Cuisine
Halloween candy is the number one villain this month.
Chocolate = toxic.
Xylitol (in sugar-free gum/candy) = deadly.
Raisins = dangerous even in small amounts.
Moral of the story? Keep the treat bowl out of reach, and never trust a kid to guard it.
Decorations of Doom
Your inflatable skeleton may be harmless, but extension cords, fake cobwebs, and glow sticks are not. Dogs who chew on cords risk shocks, while glow stick liquid tastes bitter and can cause drooling, vomiting, and one very messy carpet.
Nature’s Nightmares
Pumpkins & Gourds: Fresh = fine, moldy = a digestive nightmare.
Leaf Piles: Fun to romp in, but they can hide ticks, mold, or sharp sticks.
Mushrooms: Fall rains bring mystery fungi, and some are fatally toxic.
Safe, Not Scary
A little prep makes the season smooth:
Keep candy and décor out of snout reach.
Inspect yards for mushrooms and leaf pile hazards.
Provide safe chew toys so your pup ignores the spooky stuff.
Wrapping It Up
Fall is meant for cozy nights, pumpkin photoshoots, and maybe a Big Ass Bed nap after a long day of trick-or-treat patrol. Keep the hazards in check, and your dog can enjoy the season without starring in their own Halloween horror story.
